x17 R2, lighting issue during battery "permanent failure" state
Greetings!
My x17 R2 is currently under a "The battery has experienced a permanent failure" state, and am presently waiting for a repair person to replace said battery in hopes of rectifying the issue. Should be within the next few days. That's not why I'm here though. This is merely pertinent information.
While in this state plugged in to the wall, though the keyboard is illuminated correctly, and the Power button is blinking red steadily and continuously (about 6-8 times per second can't tell for sure), the Alien Head logo on the lid and the Stadium Ring on the IO panel are completely off with no signs of life. No matter what I do in Command Center, making sure it's not in "Go Dark" ,when I turn all lighting on; the keyboard illuminates correctly, but the back lights remain off.
Is the failed battery to blame for this and will be rectified upon it's replacement or is this issue caused by something else? Is there anything that can be done before the repair happens that would possibly restore lighting or is it somehow tied to the battery? If we pretend the battery is replaced and this issue persists, what else could it be, and what course can I have to fix this issue in the future?
Replacing the battery has rectified the issue. Evidently, the RGB lights on the lid and rear of the laptop are indeed tied in some way to the operation of the battery.
We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.
