BIOS problem on XPS 400

This is a sort of chicken and the egg thing.  When I boot up the system, I get to a point where the system message says Keyboard Error...Press F1 to continue.    Of course, I can't press F1 and have it do anything because of the keyboard error.  The system only has USB ports for the keyboard to use...no PS/2 ports at all.  So...the problem is...how do I get past this?  I've tried 3 different USB keyboards without any result.  Is there a BIOS download I can use to fix this problem or is it jusr that I have no usable USB ports and am a goner?  Thanks...I really appreciate any help you can give me!

reset the motherboard to defaults using the jumper.
