Boot-up: media test failure

I just got a new motherboard for my computer and installed it (the old motherboard had a hole blown through one of the chips from a lightning strike) and the computer will "say":
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable.
I already have my computer opened up and ready to change cables or anything required. Please help me fix the problem.

PXE is Intel's Preboot Execution Environment standard. This specifys a minimum level of functionality a boot ROM must supply to a bootable image. These functions are broken down into 4 catagories. The Preboot, TFTP, UDP and the UNDI APIs. The preboot contains the overall control and information functions. The UDP API supports the User Datagram Protocol. The TFTP API supports the Trivial File Transport Protocol, and the UNDI API is Intel's name for the Universal Network Driver Interface.

Your error number, PXE-E61, falls under the UNDI codes. Could mean the NIC cable is not plugged in or NIC is bad or the cable to the NIC is bad.

Thank you for using the Dell | Talk forum.

On many of the systems that support PXE, you can turn off PXE in the system
bios. You may want to do this if you are not running a network that requires it.
What model of Dell do you have?
