Take the floppy disk out of its drive and try again. That is usually the cause of that error message.

There is currently no floppy in the drive.

Try booting to a bootable floppy disk (like the Dell Diagnostics disk or the Windows Startup disk). Once you get to an A: prompt, type dir c: and press Enter. Can you see the contents of your C: drive? If you can, it's likely that the boot files for Windows (some how) were overwritten or corrupted in some manner.

You can restore them fairly easily using a Windows Startup disk. However, you will want to use a Startup disk created using the exact same operating system as you have installed on your computer (for instance, if you are using Windows 98 SE, do not use a Windows 98 FE or Windows 95 Startup disk). Once you are booted to an appropriate disk, at the A: prompt, type sys c:. You should receive a message that system files have been transferred. Remove the disk and reboot.

Thanks for your response. I tried using the Dell diagnostic system to move sys files into the computer and it worked... almost. Now, I don't get the no system disk message, instead the computer goes to the C:\ prompt and windows 95 doesn't load. I went into the windows dir and typed win. I got a message that said Windows cannot run with MsDos 7.00. I also tried to type Setup adn got the same response

It is VERY IMPORTANT that the Startup disk you use EXACTLY match the operating system that you are using on the computer. It is highly unlikely that the Dell Diagnostics disk is such a disk, unless you are running Windows 95 OSR2. I apologize if I did not make this clear enough in my first post.

If you do not have access to a disk such as the one I describe, I would recommend going to a computer that is running your version of Windows, and creating a disk there. Alternatively, you may be able to find a disk you can use here. If you require further help, could you please specify what operating system you are using?
