Precision M70
I'm seriously considering the Dell Precision M70, especially with the Promo on it right now. The question is with the Quadro FX Go1400. According to Nvidea the mobile version has exactly the same specs and features as the desktop version. I will be using this for DVD playback, gaming, movie authoring, etc. Nvidea also mentions that the 1400 is based on the 6800 gaming platform. Has anyone seen gaming benchmarks with the desktop or mobile FX 1400? Has anyone seen gaming benchmarks for the M70? What are the expected performance drop from the 6800 due to being tweaked for CAD systems?

Does this mean that the Quadro 1400 will be compatible with games like Doom 3? If its only a 5% drop in speed, thats not to bad, but is there a way to get that 5% back? Using different drivers or a different Bios?- On notebook forum some people receive their m70 and say quadro fx go 1400 uses ddr, not ddr3.This card is ddr3 compatible but nowadays people who receive their m70 have got a fx go1400 with ddr.It's a good news if you can confirm me, that fxgo1400 have got ddr3. Because like many people i already have ordering a m70, but i am a little desapointed if the fxgo 1400 is only with ddrPS:excuse my poor english level (i'm french)
- I can confirm that mine is gddr (http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/eng/dram/details/dram_04_HY5DS573222F.jsp), no gddr3 or gddr2. That is: DELL M70 NVIDIA QUADRO FX GO 1400, Revision 00B, 14.01.2005 . Benchmarks are in the General Precision forum. While its somewhat disappointing, it's also explainable: less power needed, smaller size and cheaper building costs. If you need a notebook with best graphical power available (for gaming) you are probably better off with the DELL Inspiron XPS 2nd Generation, it is equipped with gddr3, geforce go 6800; early benchmarks with stock drivers show a score over 4000 points, 3dmark05.
No for me the m70 is the right choice even if he had ddr in his gpu.
I don't play a lot, so it's not a big problem if it makes 800 points less on 3dmark2005. 3000 points is enough for me, i just play real time wargame few time a month. For me it's important to have a good notebook for maya or catia, so i believe this notebook is nowadays the best choice
But i just wanted to know the type of gpu memory to clarify the situation. Most people believe fxgo 1400 has got ddr3 and it is not the case.
