inspriron 7520 cannot hardware disable touchpad
My e-bank client software conflicts with the touchpad driver, everytime i try to type password it it'll hang up there and the keyboard will not response any more.
when i uninstall the touchpad driver, it'll be ok when i login my e-bank, but the touchpad will be on all the time using MS default driver, and it's so unconvinence when using the keyboard. so i try the different kinds of ways to disable the touchpad hardware only find that i couldn't...
i use this cool laptop as a ultrabook, so touchpad is not useful to me. is there any suggestion that how i can disable the touchpad hardware?
thanks/

Hi jimzshi,
Welcome to the Community,
There are two ways to disable Touchpad :
1>Press + to enable or disable the touchpad. An indicator LED lights up just above the touchpad once it has been disabled.
2>Click Start ->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound.Double click Dell Touchpad and disable on the application window by clicking Touchpad On/Off.
Note:This will work only when the Dell Touchpad driver is installed. However if you want to disable Touchpad without the Dell Touchpad driver installed,go to Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing Device, right click on the Touchpad listed, click Disable.
Hope this helps,
Thank You

hi, roshan,
thanks for replying. but i think that you misunderstood my meaning.
i did use those two ways to disable the touchpad facility of my laptop. but due to the driver conflicts between touchpad and my e-bank client (actually caused by the external mult-touch function), the keyboard will not work any more when i try to type password in the client, and force me to restart my laptop. when i uninstall dell touchpad driver, e-bank client runs well but i can not switch off the touchpad so it will be frustrated when typing the keyboard.
at last, when i was trying disable the touchpad hardware in 'device manager' -> 'mice and other pointing device', right clicking the 'dell touchpad', and i could not 'Disable' it. (other devices can be disabled by this way)
do you have any suggestion?
best regards,
jim

i uninstalled the "Dell Touchpad" in control panel -> programes, but still can not find 'disable' option in device manager.

Hi jimzshi,
I am afraid it seems without the Dell Touchpad driver installed, you will not be able to disable the Touchpad. However since you want the Touchpad to be disabled while you are typing, try the TouchFreeze utility. This Utility for Windows will automatically disable touchpad while typing.
Use this link for download: code.google.com/.../detail
Note:This is a 3rd party application and not a Dell validated application.
Hope this helps,
Thank You
