New E1505 Overheating
Hello,
I just purchased a Dell Inspiron E1505 brand new and the darned thing seems to be getting just too bloody hot. I searched Google for a temperature sensors program that works on Dell Inspiron’s and while it does not explicitly state its support for the E1505, the program I8kfanGUI appears to work. It is reporting some insanely high temperatures when the laptop is set to maximum battery life mode with the Dell Quickset utility.
I am using the latest BIOS revision (A04) released a few days ago and it works beautifully, and did not change the temperatures that I am seeing. If there are any suggestions to bring down the temperatures, or evidence that they are just too hot or maybe a defective laptop, please, please let me know soon. I have the full 3 year warranty and accidental damage replacement. So I'd love to use that and get it fixed if it is an error. The laptop is just entirely too hot to be using on your lap. So I wind up placing a really thick pillow under the laptop to prevent it from burning my lap and legs, etc... And/or just making it unpleasurable to be using in my favorite recliner.
My hardware configuration is:
Dell Inspiron E1505, Intel Core Duo T2500 processor, 1 GB 533 MHz RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 and the WSXGA LCD upgrade. I also opted for the 60GB 7200 RPM hard drive not wanting to deal with the slowness my friend said that I would experience with the 5400 PRM. Plus, he said it was basically useless to have the faster GPU and CPU and RAM without the faster HD.
Any ideas?! Thanks ahead of time.
