Pentium Processors

I am new to PC's. My daughter will be purchasing a Latitude D610 as a beginning college requirement. Six processor options are offered: Intel Pentium M Processor 730 XGA, 730 SXGA+,750 XGA, 750 SXGA+,760 XGA, 760 SXGA+. I have no idea what the differences or implications are. I would like to make a wise choice now so our investment will last her the four years. Can anyone offer advice or a suggestion of where I could find information written in everyday language versus technical jargon? Any help would be appreciated.

    Intel Pentium M Processor;
     
    730 XGA,  1.6ghz processor, display capable of up to 1024 x 768 resolution.
     
    750 XGA, 1.86ghz processor, display capable of up to 1024 x 768 resolution
     
    760 XGA, 2.0ghz processor, display capable of up to 1024 x 768 resolution.
     
    730 SXGA+, 1.6ghz processor, display capable of up to 1400 x 1050 resolution.
     
    750 SXGA+, 1.86ghz processor, display capable of  up to 1400 x 1050 resolution.
     
    760 SXGA+. 2.0ghz processor, display capable of up to 1400 x 1050 resolution.

    Thanks MadGuru416. I assume the higher processor speed means faster rendering and the SXGA+ means a higher resolution. I'm still left wondering what a history major would need. Perhaps the high-end one would be more for someone in graphic arts (or gaming), while the lower and middle-end ones would suffice for the average student. Any idea?

    In college, i used an old thinkpad 600x (450mhz) with XP for basic office and internet usage. Now im using a latitude c610 (1ghz) for my I.T. studies.

    I'd say the lowest end of that spectrum would more then suffice.

    You may want to try the outlet store. Prices are good and there are lots of good reviews on this forum. Search "outlet". Warranty is same as new units (3 yrs on Latitude) and these units are tested a lot more than new units are by tech's - not assembly operators. If you are patient, you will see them discount below their outlet price for short periods of time to clear inventory. I have not bought one from this channel yet but am seriously considering it.
