Resolution

I have an Inspiron 5100 and I am wondering if it is possible to change my resolution to 1600 x 1800. Currently I only have the option to change to 1024x768 or 800x600. When I attempt to update my monitor drivers I have no idea which drivers to get, since in device manager my monitor is just listed as a default flat panel monitor. What am I doing wrong?

Your sales invoice will list your video card.

You can also go to Dell's support part of this website and search for downloads by service tag number. Your service tag number is attached somewhere to the computer.

Nothing. You have an XGA panel, the maximum resolution for which is 1024X768. You cannot go further internally.

If it's an external monitor you're trying to adjust, load the driver for that monitor.
