2407WFP Problems

What can I say. I'm irritated.

Firstly I would like to know why my 2407WFP does not have a service code. Everything to do with support needs it yet the monitor does not have one thus I'm on the forums.

Secondly I would like to know if I can upgrade the firmware on my monitor so that when playing my PS3 it will not stretch the 1920x1080 picture to 1920x1200 (1:1 pixel display). Mine is an A02.

Thirdly I noticed when I recieved the monitor that I had what I believe to be a hair behind the screen. When I have a bright screen I can see it and it does not stay on the same group of pixels when I move my head therefore it is not a blemish on the screen but behind the screen.

And finally my monitor's stand is stuck at it's lowest position. I can not move the monitor up or down now. The button does not work. If anyone could help me out please respond to this.

Well I finally found my service tag, very small set of numbers that are right after the date of manufacturing with no indication stating it is the service tag. And guess what, I used the code and it said " Our records indicate that your service tag belongs to a system purchased in Canada." I'm from St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. and always have been.

    This is getting rediculous.

I am having the same problem with the service tag. Nowhere can I find or locate a service tag that Dell ask for in order for me to activate the warranty. I logged on to Dell chat and they were unable to help. Does anyone know how to activate the warranty on a Dell monitor without a servive tag? Thanks

AFAIK the only monitors to have their own service tag are the 27" and 30". For other models, use the system service tag if the monitor was purchased as part of a system, otherwise see this post.

I contacted Dell Chat and they advised me to call an 800 number to solve my problem. They are only available Monday through Friday. I will call Monday. I think they can solve the issue at that time. My only concern is that Dell does not have a simple way to add monitors to your account as they do complete systems. I have purchased several systems and several monitors separately but nowhere can I find where I purchased the monitors. This is definately a problem that Dell needs to address.

    Tydude4Christ, All,

Firstly I would like to know why my 2407WFP does not have a service code. Everything to do with support needs it yet the monitor does not have one thus I'm on the forums.
    * You must use the Order number and call 1-800-624-9896 for support.

Secondly I would like to know if I can upgrade the firmware on my monitor so that when playing my PS3 it will not stretch the 1920x1080 picture to 1920x1200 (1:1 pixel display). Mine is an A02.
    * No. Dell monitors do not have the capability to "flash" the bios.

Thirdly I noticed when I recieved the monitor that I had what I believe to be a hair behind the screen. When I have a bright screen I can see it and it does not stay on the same group of pixels when I move my head therefore it is not a blemish on the screen but behind the screen.
    * Post a picture of this on Imageshack.

And finally my monitor's stand is stuck at it's lowest position. I can not move the monitor up or down now. The button does not work. If anyone could help me out please respond to this.
    * Press down on the stand to release the pressure on the button. While pressing down, push the button.

Called the 800 number and the person I talked to did not have a clue as to what I was talking about. I could not even understand her. She advised me to email Dell and wait for an email response. I must tell you, I have purchased Dell systems and monitors for years but I have given up on Dell. I had to convince myself to buy a Dell monitor instead of HP. I gave Dell one last chance and this is what I get. I can assure you this will never happen again. Sorry that Dell has let their customer support dip to this level.

The thing to the right of the .mov is the "hair" though I'm not exactly sure what it is.

As you can see these images are from two different angles thus the "hair" is closer to the .mov on the bottom picture.

It's been there since I bought the monitor and it doesn't bother me enough for me to do anything about it so I guess whatever.

That appears to be a smudge on the screen. I have a Viewsonic that has it. I was told it was from some kind of pressure that was applied to the screen at some time. I was also told there was nothing that could be done short of replacing the monitor. Since I don't use the monitor except as a monitor that I use to do repairs, and it has no stuck pixels, I choose to keep it.
