DVI Connection

I just tried to switch from the analog to the DVI connection on my 1703fp monitor and PC after reading up and realized I had a digital monitor. WHAT HAPPENED? The monitor worked fine, although, I really didn't notice any difference in picture. But, I lost my DSL connection. How could this happen. I uninstalled my software and reinstalled and no good. It kept telling me I wasn't connected to the home portal (DSL). It wouldn't even let me shut down the PC. WOW, I paniced and held the on/off button until the PC shut down, put the analog cord back on and turned the PC on. Then I realized that my ethernet was disabled. I enabled it, reinstalled the DSL software and everything was fine. I give up. I'm afraid to touch it again. I have a XPS with XP home edition.

    Just a followup. I couldn't let this go so I tried to change the analog cord with the digital cord again. This time everything went normal. The only thing I can figure was when I tried to change the cord the last time my wife was still hooked up to the DSL router with her wireless notebook. Her laptop did start acting wierd and real slow. So something was obviously conflicting there. I don't have a clue. This time it was not hooked up. But if you try this yourself, you might want to make sure the other computers are off the network. By the way after I changed the resolution of the monitor it did make a difference in the picture from the analog. Maybe not a real big difference but a little sharper with crisper colors.
