Our company purchased a dimension 8400 with a E193FP 19" LCD not ultrasharp. Initially hooked it up to my old MS 2000 workstation before i was able to setup the new 8400. Right away i noticed aweful image quality and horible text quality. We also have a viewsonic VX800 in the office and compared the two and without any doubt the viewsonic is better. Then hooked it up to my 8400 and image quality is good but text quality is VERY poor. I turned on cleartype but that doesnt really fix the problem, it masks it. Not all text is displayed in cleartype. Besides i dont like cleartype. I called Dell and they sent me another E193FP and the new one initally looked GREAT. The replacement is noticably brighter at the same settings. I have a DVI adapter and hooked both monitors up at the same time to compare. After a little while the new one looked just as bad as the old one just a little brighter.

 

Question is: Will the 19" dell ultrasharp fix the aweful text quality or should I forget about dell LCD's and go with a viewsonic or another brand?

 

The E193FP is totally unusable to me. Make me lightheaded.
