Inspiron 3847, Windows 10, input timing is not supported

Hello.

I just purchased a brand new computer today. Dell Inspiron 3847 running Windows 10. I connected it to my Dell widescreen monitor and everything was fine. I was not happy with the resolution, and tried to change it. Once I did this, now my computer boots up to a black screen stating:
"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1920×1080@60hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications"

I looked in the BIOS to see if there is an option to reset the VGA and could not find one.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What specific Dell monitor model? Are you connecting the monitor to 5, 6, or 8?

Hi there,

I am joining on to this thread because I am having the exact same problem. Just got a new Inspiron 3847 (running Windows 10). It only has a VGA output (port 6 in the image above), so I am using a VGA cable to project to a Dell 20" monitor (E2016H0).

I wasn't happy with the screen resolution, so changed it to the "recommended" resolution (can't remember exactly what that was now), and then the screen went black and it gave me the error message "The current input timing is not supported...".

As Windows 10 seems to have removed the ability to start safe mode before loading windows, I don't know how to get back into windows to change to a lower resolution again.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
