Monitor goes dark every 10 seconds
Ihave a Dell Dimension and the monitor listed in Hidden Devices--and the display properties dialogue box says I have a P991 monitor.
Display Properties says it is 94 WRF 14430G4DELL P991 I upped the refresh rate to 85 Hz and Accleration is full. I have no idea of impact of those on this or in general. But I will find out if I ever fix this monitor.
The Problem is that the monitor goes out every 6 seconds. Clicking the mouse seems to make this worse.
First thanks to Dell for making it hard for me to get into this site after years--I don't know what email address I used for it--fortunately I stashed a link to let me in. Good thinking Dell--Iraqui insurgents will crash your site and come to Texas. Very smart good service to make it difficult to get into your site for people who sign your paycheck.

People who are in trouble need to get Downloads Dell--we paid you good money and your phone support is less than horrendously bad so don't make it tough to get on the site.
!) Dev Manager hides the monitor as a hidden device. Why MSFT--what's the point of hidden devices including the monitor--isn't the monitor somewhat important in computing--so why hide it in Dev Mgr Redmond geniuses??????
2) Could my driver have corrupted either the Video Display Adapter Driver--GForce2 or the Monitor driver.
3) Why in the world in Dev Mgr aka "devmgtm.msc" in the run box do you have to find the Monitor listed as a hidden device. Can Dell contact their platinum partner MSFT gonna make Longhorn to sell much Dell computers 'cause they gotta buy new ones for 7 editions of Longhorn and find out?
4) In Dev Mgr were two listings for the Dell P991--one was faded out and it said this device not connected to PC. So I shift+deleted that entry. But when it was there, I was still seeing this for 5 seconds anyway, so how could it have been not connected? False info from Dev Mgr from MSFT? What does that mean?
5) The other P991 entry says "working fine" which Dev Mgr seems to say whether the driver is corrupted and things are work. That's why I never trust Dev Mgr's assessment of driver health. It says everything's great whether the driver is shot or not.
6) Could I need a new video aka display adapter driver or a monitor driver for the Dell Dimension 8100 with a P991 monitor. Does anyone know a link for this on Dell's site since I don't know my email for Dell to get in and I can't keep the monitor on for more than 6 seconds which is a bit of a challenge.
7) Does acceleration slider impact this?
8) Does refresh rate impact this?
Does anyone have a plan for a monitor that won't stay on and could it be the drivers or is there a differential diagnosis of anything else?
