Monitor or video driver?
I have a GX110 and I cannot get my monitor off 16 color. I have an svga monitor. How do I get 256 color?

vdem7,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
In order to get all the color and resolution choices in windows you will need to install the video card drivers back into the computer. You can edit your user profile in the forum and include your system service tag number so that I can tell what video card is in your computer. I then can post a link to download the drivers. The drivers are also located on the Dell Resource cd that came with the computer.

vdem7,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If you cannot get all the color and resolution choices from within windows you will need to reinstall the video card drivers back into the system. If you need assistance with loading video drivers post this question to Dell - Chris in the video conference forum.

Jesse- Read some of the messages, can't find what I need.
I have an Optiplex GX100/T, Service Tag No. 9NL0401, the machine is as shipped from Dell except for some added memory.
I used the recovery CD to reformat my HD and now only have 16 colors. I understand from the messages I read that I need to re-install the video drivers to get my monitor performance back.
I tried your Start/Run/Debug/d c000:01 method to determine my video driver w/o success.
How do I determine which video driver(s) I need? Can it/they be re-installed from the recovery CD? What are the instructions for re-installing from the recovery CD?
If not available on the recovery CD, what are the instructions for downloading and installing from Dell's support site?
Thanks for your help. Mike

Mike. I had similar problem if only 16 colour bit.
I used Resource CD for re installing drivers.
control panel/system/device manager/sound and video controllers/video driver/properties choose re install driver.
point the re install to the resource disc.
this solved the problem for me.
regards,
jerry

I tried your suggestion, thanks. The problem I have is that after the re-install from the recovery CD, I have no sound and video controller on the device manager tab so I can't search for a driver for a device that doesn't exist.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Mike

mikeinmaine,
You can download the drivers that you need by clicking the link below. First, download and install the chipset drivers. You then can install the video, sound and whatever other drivers you need. Your system has the Creative Labs Sound Blaster 64 PCI, Intel 810 Series Integrated Video,AZTECH PC99 D/F 56K,V.90,Intel 800 Series Integrated Chipset. You can click the link to download the drivers.

Thanks Jesse,
I'm sure I'll have to go get some more floppy's before I start. I'll try your links and let you know how it works out.
Is there a way that I can obtain these drivers from Dell for future use on the resource CD that I see mentioned in other posts?
Mike
