Problem cloning data from tape to disk

Hi folks,

I have problem with really old clone tapes. I should clone very old(2005) Exchange data from tape to disk. I have used scanner to import savesets back to media db.

On year 2005 those exchange servers used disk backup. First data was backuped to disk and then cloned to clonetape pool. Those AFTDs where data was first backuped are gone long time ago.

Now when I'm trying to do clone from tape to disk I get "no matching devices; check storage nodes, devices or pools" I have setup one clone pool with only AFTD where I want to clone data. Clone tapes are in different clone pool with no restrictions with devices. I have tried multiple devices on clonetape pool but no success.

Any ideas how to make this work? I have done this same thing several times. Only difference was that backups were direct tape backups not clones.

Don't ask why tape->disk and why so old data has to be restored... :)

Make sure to set read hostname to be storage node where disk is. This will make sure tapes are loaded on that storage node. In client properties for that storage node put cloning storage node to be that host. That should work.

one silly question ... have you labeled aftd to be in clone pool? oh, yes ... you did...

then check what is set up for the clients recover storage node...

I found the problem. Scanner doesn't update the location information of tape. Tape was offline. When I put the tapes online then cloning started to work normally.

I found that error message little bit confusing. When recovering data with nw user or recover they will inform if tapes are offline but cloning doesn't do that.
