Protocol-Based VLAN on 6024
Hi All
Experimenting trying to get Protocol Based VLANs working on the 6024...
VLAN 1 is the only VLAN with an IP assignment, Vlan 200 exists but no IP assigned.
I configured port 1 to be PVID 1, and protocols of IP and IPX within 2 different protocol groups that I also assigned to VLAN 1 on port 1
I then configured port 2 to be PVID 200, but the same 2 protocol groups and they are assigned to VLAN 1 on port 2.
My understanding is that if I have protocol groups assigned, the PVID should be ignored, and if I connect a PC to port 2 using IP, it should become a member of VLAN 1 - because the protocol group says so.
When I tried plugging my PC into port 2 - I lost connection to the switch.
Anyone tried this? Any ideas on why the protocol based VLAN aren't working? Thanks!

I tried to delete the posting, but the forum said I didn't have sufficient privilege to do so... oh well..
Rather stupidly, I hadn't made port 2 a member of VLAN 2, even 'though I'd set the PVID to that.
Still, at least I fixed it, and the protocol-based assignments worked just fine.
