98se Boots very slow after installing fast ethernet driver

Hi, I've recently installed 98se along side of winxp on GX110 with bios A09. I've installed 3C905B,3C905C,(one at a time of course:) and either one causes very slow booting on 98se. I uninstalled them to make sure it was the drivers causing the slow booting, and it was, so am I using the right driver? acourding to the downloads section I am, can anyone help? thx
