Cordless phone interference

I tried to reset the channel to 11 as recommended.  At the save prompt, after it seemed 100% complete, I got a message : unable to connect to My.router.  When I went back, it looks like the channel had been reset.  Tried this a few times, always with same response.  Is this likely a problem in resetting the channel, or simply accessing the homepage.

When the 2.4 Gb cordless phones are used in the house, it resets the TrueMobile 1184 wireless so shows not connected to ISP. However, at least part of the time, we can continue to use the internet? Anyone else have this problem, and did resetting the channel correct it?

Is the firmware updated?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is firmware? I know hardware and software.

I am using and Inspiron 600m  with XP Pro with smartcard, just purchased in June 2003. The TM router is connected to DSL and to a Dell Dimension 600T using Windows 98SE (which currently will only operate in Safe mode, and from which I am trying to transfer files).

Firmware is what is flashed to other computer products, like a router, hard drive controller board, cd drive controller card, etc.  He was asking if your 1184 has the latest firmware running.
