Help Me Please!

I have an inspiron 1501 with windows XP and i am trying to connect to the wireless network..It is showing the wireless network in range with a good signal but when i click connect it just says waiting for network but does not connect to it. Can anyone please help me? Its greatly appreciated!

I dont have the router..I get the wireless connection on this laptop from someone around me..but if it connects to one it should to the other right?

do you have the same workgroup names? do you have a wpa security on the router?

Yes its on. The laptop i am using now is connected to that network so thats why i dont understand why the other one wont do it. The signal shows up and everything.

Yes. Its my neighbor..I tryed seeing if he knew what was going on but he doesnt understand it either if one connects and the other doesnt

take your laptop to his house and see if you can connect.

Yes the person that has been trying to connect me got on at his house with his router..but thats it.

He did that already and it worked there.

so if it works there and not at your house then your getting a poor signal.

It shows the signal is good though. And if the other laptop connects to it then it must be.

there might be some advance setting that can be tweaked on the wireless card to get it to hook up.

I dont really know much about computers so i wouldnt be able to fix it lol.

my intel wireless card has thing you can change in the device manager to get a better signal. maybe your card does also.

I dont see anything in the device manager about that.

if you have it you would need to click and open network adapters, double click on the card and it would be there under advanced.
