For some Verizon customers, PPPoE is required. If you do, have you configured the router for PPPoE and have you disabled any PPPoE software that may be running on the PC?
The TCP/IP properties of the PC should be configured to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically." Likewise, DNS addressing should be set to automatic.
Turn everything off. Connect the modem to the WAN port on the router with a straight-through ethernet cable. Connect the computer to one of the LAN ports on the router with another straight-through ethernet cable. Turn on the modem and let it synchronize with the ISP. It may take a few minutes. then turn on the router and let it synchronize with the modem. Finally turn on the computer. Check to see if it is receiving a valid IP address from the router. that IP address should be close to 192.168.1.100. If it is, open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools - Options - Connections tab. Select "Never dial....." and then clock the LAN Settings tab. Make sure none of the check boxes are selected. OK out. Then see if you can bring up a web site.
If you are running PPPoE you will have to configure the router with your logon ID and password. And you will have to disable or uninstall any PPPoE software that is running on your computer.
Note also that the Westell 2200 is itself a NAT router as is the Linksys. The difference is that the Westell can be connected directly to a DSL line, and that model Linksys can't.
Thanks, I figured it out before ya'all replied... I set the router to PPPoE with another machine. First day with DSL..... Not like cable.
Nooo...it's not like cable! It looks to me like you could connect a hub to the Ethernet connector on the Westell, and drop the Linksys. That way the Westell could support more than one machine, and would eliminate problems from having two routers and two DHCP servers in series.
