IRQ Settings for Cardbus Controller

Hello all!

Hope some of you can help me out! I bought a new 3Com OfficeConnect 11g Wireless PC Card. Problem is, it doesn't work to well. After a while it will freeze up my laptop and I can see that the CPU is running 100%. After a couple of emails to 3Com support, they suggested I change the IRQ (setting?) from 11, to a number that isn't used, 10 for instance. The only thing is, the Texas Cardbus Controller would need to be the same IRQ, so my question is this... How do I change the IRQ settings.

I don't know a lot about this kind of area in computing, so I really don't know what I would need to do and the possible consequences of getting it wrong. Does what 3Com suggested sound like a reasonable method of fixing the problem? Any help is appreciated.

I'm using an Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Professional.

The "use automatic settings" box is ticked but greyed out, so I can't change it, I assume this means I can't change it?

    Thanks

right click on my computer and go to manage. then go to device manager. now right click on the card and go to properties. There should be a resources tab. If you can't edit the settings there, it might not be possible to change them at all.

yeah, you would be right. Computer manufacturers have decided we're not capable enough to fool with IRQ settings anymore.

That's a pity, now I'm stuck with a useless piece of hardware!
