Multiple IP's on 1 NIC - not working

I work in an environment with two network address spaces on the same ethernet. It is strictly workgroup / peer to peer networking - no domain. All machines are static assigned IP's. I need to access both networks and added the seccond on to my machine (no default route specified for that network). I can ping machines on both networks but cannot connect to the shared folders on one. I have made sure that support for NetBios is enabled on all machines.

I have found that if IP address on the 192.168.xxx.xxx network is listed first I see only those machines and folders. If I reverse the order that the IP addresses are listed (in advanced properties of the TCP/IP properties box I see only the machines and folders on the 10.xxx.xxx.xxx network.

Is there a way I can access both networks without changing the IP address around all the time?

Thanks in advance
