other networked computers cannot access new one
All my computers are Dells. I have 2 networks, in 2 different homes. All computers used to be able to file share until the the last 2 new ones. The new ones can access the internet and can read and send files to and from the older ones (2 to 5 years old). But the older ones cannot read from or send to the new ones; the older ones still do work amongst theirselves. They all have Windows XP and are updated when Microsoft sends updates. There are mixed versions, XP home, multimedia and pro but that has never been a problem before adding the newer 2 computers.
I have disabled the firewall and use zonealarm. I've turned off zonealarm to experiment and it doesn't make a difference. The new ones can still share with the old ones but not vice versa.
On one network, the old ones do not even see the names of the new one. On the other, it sees the name but cannot gain access with an error similar to the one (is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer (is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Any suggestions that I can try?
Thanks.
