Wireless Adapter Issue, Any Suggestions Welcome at This Point
Hi. I have an issue that's driving me insane. I got my laptop last October and the wireless worked fine both at home and school until about a week ago. Suddenly the card isn't detecting wireless networks, or it will for about a second and then they disappear. I've done everything I can think of to try to fix this, from uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, to resetting the router, to restoring the computer to the factory settings, and nothing has worked. I know it's the adapter because it also no longer detects my neighbor's network, my Xbox is connected to the router and works, and I'm online through ethernet coming from the router. I get a lot of "the capabilities of the network do not match the adapter" messages, so today I was messing around with both the router and card trying to fix it, and I did briefly get an intermittent connection, but isn't working now.
I'm running an XPS M1530 with an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter. The router is a Linksys WRT160N. All the drivers are up to date.
Thanks for the help, this has been making me nuts.

Have you looked at the Router Setup page to see what has changed? Linksys has a decent self help support site. Try using that to go to figure out the problem. Network problems drive me nuts, too.

What operating system are you using? If Vista go to Start then network and sharing. Click on manage wrireless networks. Remove all of what is listed. Shut down your computer. Power down your modem and router. Wait 5 minutes. Power up your modem and once it has booted completely, then power up your router until it boots up completely, then power up your computer. See if you can make a connection. If it is secure and you cant connect then try to connect with security off.

Dallas (go Cowboys by the way!), I'm running Vista 32 bit. I tried what you said when it happened, no luck. The adapter isn't even recognizing that there are any networks. Maybe this will help...
I go to connect...
And most of the time I get this... (the one I'm connected to is through ethernet)
Sometimes I'll get this, but still can't connect and it disappears when I refresh...
There should also be at least two other networks shown from my upstairs and next door neighbors, since they always appeared until this problem started, and now I only get the upstairs one every once in a while. Also, it isn't doing it now, but a lot of times I get the screen above with the network name and a message saying the capabilities of my adapter do not match the network. Hopefully this was helpful, and thanks for the advice.

I am having the same problem, my laptop worked fine for a year now since i have had it and in the past 4 days i cannot connect the netgear wireless to it, i have also tried everything from shutting it down to wiping it all out and i even suggested the step in the above email, by the way how do you go from a secure connection to an unsecure conection, that is the only thing i didn't try since i don't know how to do it but i also cant connect and it is driving me crazy and i refuse to pay to call dell to help me out, my year warranty just ended, go figure..
