Max Upgrades for Optiplex 7010?

I’ve got an Optiplex 7010 and I want to make it as absurdly powerful as I can, pushing it to the absolute limit!

it’s running Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470S CPU @ 2.90GHz presumably with Integrated Graphics and I was wondering what the most powerful CPU that I can have on it would be, or if it already has one of the most powerful ones already.

i know it’s not a cost effective thing to do but I still want to try it.

would also want to be able to legally run Windows 11 on it if possible

I’ve got 16 GB of RAM running on it and was also wondering what the Max on that would be

I also see there’s a slot to add a WiFi card but it’s empty on my computer so I was wondering what the best wifi card for it would be. Haven’t opened it up to see if it has a special connector or something

Already has an SSD in it but it’s pretty small. Would welcome any recommendations on that

Which is the most powerful one on that list and how does it compare to the one I already have?

This forum page lists the possible CPUs that are compatible. And none of them is higher than generation 3. Also that is a 6 year old system (depending on the form factor) and you really cannot wring much more power out of it. As for Windows 11 the CPU you have is much older than the 8th gen CPU which is the oldest CPU that Windows 11 supports. As far as the maximum amount of RAM, Dell specs list 16 GB as the maximum total although Crucial does list 32 GB as the compatible total as shown here.

I am not a Dell employee...I am forum volunteer

Serious work on an E5430 and constantly building and working on an i5-6500 Desktop

Re: what the most powerful CPU that I can have on it would be

i7-3770k or i7-3770 is the fastest cpu supported by 7010.

UserBenchmark: Intel Core i5-3470S vs i7-3770K

single thread cpu mark for 3770k or 3770 is 2080, for i5-3470s is 1890. PassMark CPU Benchmarks - Single Thread Performance

    not a huge difference

on the other hand i7 has 8 threads, i5 has 4 threads.  both 4 core.
