Go to SolutionOptiplex 7040 and Windows 10 32 bit
Hi folks - new to the group and have a catch 22 problem with my 7040 upgrading to 21H1...
Update always fails with 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 (failed sys_prep_specialize). It looks
like Windows is trying to find drivers for the ROOT\DELLUTILS\0000 and "other"
unknown but apparently related devices. Drivers would be (if still on the system)
DBUTILDRV2.inf & .cat, DBUTIL_2.3.sys. Unfortunately, Dell deleted these because
of the "security" flaw/patch and I can't find these files anywhere. Apparently Dell
has only release a 64 bit version of the drivers, and I don't want to go through the
hassle of re-installing over 130 programs to change to Win10/64 bit.
I tried to remove the unknown devices, but they keep coming back every time
I boot up.
Anyone know a way of either getting these driver files (temporarily) to make Windows
update happy? Anyone know how to remove the DELL UTILS devices or prevent then
from re-installing themselves? I have updated my 7040 BIOS to the latest ver, as
well as all other drivers. Windows update error log only shows issues with the
DELLUTILS devices not having drivers. Update from Win 7 to Win10 was OK,
because the drivers were still on the system.
Any suggestions appreciated...
