Optiplex 7040 micro tower internal usb 2.0 ?
Hello,
according to the owner's manuel (table 29), Optiplex 7040 micro tower (7040M) would have an internal usb 2.0 connector :
"USB 2.0 (front/back/internal) : 0/0/1"
Is this a mistake ? If no, could you help to locate this connector ?

This is a "before to buy" question.
The manuel talks about an internal USB 2.0 connector, but the "System board layout" in the same manuel doesn't show it. I would like to be sure before to buy.

There is an unlabeled multi pin connector on motherboard. ? used for internal USB2.0? no old fashioned 9 pin usb port on board.

This connector is labeled : "KB_MS_SERIAL" and has 24 pins. That seems to be used by Dell for PS2/Serial optional connector. According to table 29 in the manuel, this also an option for 7040M. Pictures of this expansion (from internet) show a 24-pin cable with one or 2 PS/2 and one serial (COM) ports.
So i don't think it is related to an USB 2.0 connector.

In your yellow circle, it's just the viewpoint, there are 2 clips for the battery. The motherboard model is 96JG8. You can easily find other viewpoint.

I think I have figured it out. It looks like a Dell documentation error.
Dell 9020M spec says USB 2.0 (Front/Rear/Internal) 0/0/1
but comprehensive 9020 spec says Internal USB 2.0 (MT only) and does not mention any internal usb 2.0 for Micro.
comprehensive 7040 spec does not mention any internal usb 2.0 for M. M is considered a special animal while the rest MT/SFF grouped together.
10 External USB: 6 x 3.0 (2 front/4 rear) and 4 x 2.0 (2 front/2 rear - 1 front with PowerShare); 1 Internal USB 2.0; 1 RJ-45; 1 Serial; 2 Display Port 1.2; 1 HDMI 1.4; 2 PS/2; 1 UAJ, 1 Line-out; 1 VGA (optional)
Micro: 6 External USB3.0 (2 front/4 rear – 1 front with PowerShare); 1 RJ-45; 1 HDMI 1.4; 1 Display Port 1.2; 1 UAJ (front); 1 Line- out(front); additional Display Port 1.2 (optional); 1 VGA (optional); Serial+PS2 (optional).
