Hello team,

I am trying to determine for my client which version they should apply for their R340. Their policy is to apply patch one version before the latest one. Current BIOS version is 1.3.3 and Lifecycle is 3.36.36.36.

From page http://poweredgec.dell.com/latest_poweredge-14g.html#R340%20BIOS  I see that the latest bios is 2.2.3 and previous version was 2.1.6. Question is can they jump from 1.3.3 straight to 2.1.6? Do you have some list of previous bios patches?

From above link Lifecycle I believe the latest patch is 3.36.103.36 and as per release notes one before was 3.36.36.36.

but when I searched via service tag it showed me different patches for this model. BIOS recommended patch was 2.1.6 and Lifecycle 4.00.00.00. From release notes for 4.00.00.00 I found previous versions 3.40.40.40 3.42.42.42. 

http://www.dell.com/idracmanuals/  is confusing as well.

Can you please tell me which source of information is correct and that I should follow.
