Precision 7910 bricks when Secure Boot selected from "F2" setup menu
I have a Precision 7910, A26 BIOS, boots from M.2 SSD in UEFI mode.
I wanted to reinstall Windows 10 on this drive.
I rebooted, clicked F2 after DELL splash screen. Selected Secure Boot and disabled Legacy Boot Options. Adjusted Boot Sequence so that the USB Windows Installation Media would boot up. When I exited the BIOS Setup, the screen remained black. DELL Splash screen never appeared. Never booted up the installation media. And, after multiple reboots, was unable to F2 back into the BIOS setup to disable Secure Boot. Nor could I F12 into the Boot Sequence menu. Had to remove CMOS battery and drain power from machine. After more reboot attempts, the DELL splash screen appeared, I was able to get into the BIOS setup and disable Secure Boot. I could then restart into the OS.
I still needed to reinstall Windows 10. So, I rebooted again, F2'ed, enabled Secure Boot and disabled Legacy Boot Options and then exited. Again, no DELL splash screen, no boot from the Windows Install Media. Just a black screen with no way to get to the F2 setup menu nor the F12 menu. Again, had to remove the CMOS battery, drain the power and reboot some more until finally the DELL splash screen came up and I could turn off Secure Boot.
Anybody experience this? Are these the steps to reinstall Win 10 on the M.2 SSD in UEFI mode?
