T1700 start problem

I recently resurrected a T1700 from the recycle center. I7, Windows 7 Pro, 16gb ram, Intel 800gb ssd.

It was running great, no issues at all, until the other day.

I always shut down in the evening, then start up the next morning. Yesterday it wouldn't start. No power, no beeps/lights, no spin up of fans or dvd drive. Nothing. Checked the insides, no loose connections. The test button on the power supply shows it good, steady light and the fans at full speed.

Disconnected power cable, cmos battery, held down power button to clear the caps. Reconnected power cable. Still no go. tried all configurations of the  rams. Nothing.

Disconnected the power button connector on the mb. It has 5 pins. I tried jumping all combinations of 2 pins, no start. Reseated the ps connector, sata connectors and any others I could get to.

Finally got it started by holding the power button while plugging in. Went into bios and reset time and date. Performed all diagnostics, all passed. Windows now started fine. Everything works fine once started.

It will restart from the start menu fine. Goes into sleep and comes out of sleep with a press of the power button or a key on the keyboard. But still won't start from a complete shutdown. For now I'm leaving it in sleep overnight, then waking it up in the morning and doing a restart to clear the ram and whatever else clears with a shutdown. But I'd rather shut it down overnight.

I don't have a spare ps to test it with. Since it starts while holding the button and plugging in the power cable, and works perfectly once started, I can't figure out which hardware piece is the problem. I'm stumped. I can usually figure out problems or get an answer by Googling, but not this time.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I just fixed it! Something must have happened to the bios update I did when I first configured this computer a few months ago. Re-installing the A28 update fixed it.

Now how do I re-glue the hair I've been pulling out over this mystery?

Well, it's doing it again, and re-installing the bios update isn't fixing it like before.

    Any ideas?

    Hello,
I had a similar case where the button battery on the motherboard was low.
I invite you to try to change it!

    Good luck.

Anyone else on the same issue? I have exactly this same. Tried all above suggestions but not work for me.

Every time, I need to press power button multiple times then plug power cord. continue press power button multiple times till system is up.
