Have recently bought one and using Dual 5680 and using 36GB RAM - 888,222,222 Bought another one with Dual 5607 and struggling to mix the RAM without it beeping at me... Works with 888 and 222 with one type of RAM but if I use 222 with RAM I got out from my other T5500 it beeps and won't boot...
I have flashed the BIOS to A17. Not sure what the issue is?
I have tried to add 888,222 but same issue.
Any ideas? Is there a difference in the amount of RAM I can use depending on the CPU?
Can't seem to find any info...
Any advice would be helpful...
btw one is working with an AMD RX 580 and the other Nvidia GTX 770.
You said there is "No such specification as 888 or 222."
I think he may have a riser card with the slots filled with 8,8,8,2,2,2,2,2,2 GB sticks in the first machine. This would indeed add up to his specified 36GB RAM. (At least that's how I read his post)
I would suggest moving the RAM from Machine #1 into the corresponding slots in Machine #2 to see how it goes. Speedstep is indeed correct that you can't mix different types of RAM, so please verify what sort of sticks are installed in each T5500. The OP may have Unbuffered ECC installed in one machine and Registered ECC in the other.
I have dell T5500 workstation the problem is DIMM 2 is not working but DIMM1 and DIMM3 is perfectly working I need 16GB RAM can I use 8GB + 8GB in DIMM1 and DIMM3 please reply me
I had a similar problem, after cleaning the T5500 for dust. Tiny fragments of dustbunnies got into the DIMM slots causing DIMM slot errors. Used an electronics solvent to wash them out, now working fine.
