Precision 5530 slow operation
My architect client ordered this new Precision 5530 for his wife who teaches "Autodesk Revit" professionally, going to her clients offices to instruct others. So, thinking that an i9 with 6 cores running at 4.4GHz with 64 GB of RAM would simply scream, it soon became "..more than disappointing..." (his exact words), and his term of "laggy" is putting it mildly, as I myself have seen it...
But the next thing he said was that "...she CANNOT maintain a network connection for longer that half a day, if that...". I've updated drivers for the Ethernet 'dongle' that was supplied, as well as all software and 'drivers' for the $250 Dell USB 3.1 'docking station' which would have supplanted the gigabit dongle that shipped with this laptop. And yet... too often we have to 'reboot' to restore network access, or sometimes just disconnect the Ethernet cable and re-connect and it's back, so - something ain't right here.. Someone else made a suggestion about some type of 'throttling' thing going on that was addressed by a registry entry alteration, but wouldn't opting for 'high performance' in the power settings have similar affects? Very disappointing, I gotta say..
So what can anyone suggest that we might try before resorting to calling Dell for support on what should be a very fast and capable laptop computer..? I suggested this laptop to them, so I feel just a tad 'obligated' in finding the answer here.
