Printer Status Window Interface has stopped Working

I am receiving this message intermittantly when I am printing.   I have seen the thread on this subject but it seems to relate to printing via wireless.

I have a Dell 966 printer, using Vista on a Inspiron 530S computer.  and I am hooked to the printer via USB.

I am not very technical so I need some assistance to resolve this issue, which has plagued me for some time.

Any help is welcome.   Thanks.

    jwolf1,

Before we start, if my  memory serves me correctly, your printer might have a wireless card.

You need to disconnect the printer. Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

    Restart your computer.

Download the proper Vista drivers. Install the Vista drivers, you'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at Dell 966 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

Check to see if you have Google desk top and Google Tool Bar on your computer. If you do, uninstall them.

Go to Control Panel, then Programs and Features. Highlight the Google program and click the unistall button at the top.

I had the same issue with my AIO 966. I have a 1521 with Vista. It was driving me crazy.

After I uninstalled the Google Toolbar and rebooted, it took care of the problem.
