Problem with Dell 964 and XPS600

Just bought a brand new XPS600 and a Dell All-In-One Photo 964 Printer in January 2006.  After installing the printer (per instructions provided), receive the following RUNDLL error message at startup:

C:\WINDOWS\System32|spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\DLCJtime.dll
Missing Entry:RunDLLEntry

This causes the computer to randomly hang during the WindowsXP Media Center Edition startup.  I have already had to re-format the hard drive (the day after receiving the NEW computer from Dell).  I contacted Dell Customer Support (printers), downloaded the latest printer drivers from the Dell web site, and still get the same error and symptoms.  Dell customer support first blamed the problem on Microsoft (claimed a "known" problem with print spooler), then suggested I send the printer back to Dell and try a new one.  They also claim no one else has reported the same problem. PLEASE HELP!

I really want to use the with my new system, but I am nearing the end of my patience with this issue.

Talked with Dell Headquarters about this problem and have been informed it is a problem with the Lexmark/Dell 964 All In One printer..Lexmark and Dell engineers are working around the clock(or so I've been told) to fix it..The problem is that evidently it seems to be random in it's appearance and therefore is hard to figure out..Dell claims to be working on the patch and will release it as soon as it becomes available..Dell has been aware of my problem for almost a month now and I have confidence they will fix it..

Someone is jerking your chain if they told you they have a fix.....If I were you, I would wait until Dell and Lexmark fix the problem and notify you and the general public of the final solution..It will end up a public relations fiasco if this problem goes on much longer..Someone's head is probably going to be rolling around in the unemployment office when this is over..Both at Dell and Lexmark !!!!!

You found a fix to this problem?

I think that (can't use that word) will freeze over before Dell comes up with a solution.

Been waiting for over 5 months now.

*THE HINT FOR THE FIX IS TO SEARCH FOR THE FOLDER "DL_cats". THIS DELL 964 PROBLEM IS A LEXMARK "SPYWARE" ISSUE ? EACH TIME YOU PRINT A PAGE THE "DLCJCATS" ENTRY IS RENEWED IN THE REGISTRY. I MOVED THIS FOLDER TO MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE SO I CAN LOOK AT IT FROM TIME TO TIME TO REMEMBER ! CHECK OUT EACH AND EVERY FILE WITHIN THIS FOLDER SO YOU WILL LEARN. DEALING WITH THIS FOLDER WILL GIVE YOU GREAT PLEASE AND PUT "DELL SOFTWARE SUPPORT" TO SHAME !!!!!!! YEA !!!!!!!

Hello there,

In another post the DLJC.cats entry was explained as a operation by the AIO 964 that was searching for a 64 bit application.  Dell had built the drivers for the 64 bit future even though most computers are operating in a 32 bit environment.

Well as fate would have it, there was a conflict with another driver.  The creative labs X-FI soundcard drivers will bring about an operation that fools the printer drivers to think the 64 bit is functional.  Hence, every time you print the DLJC.cats reloads because it thinks a 64 bit environment is present.

Here is the good news....the latest soundcard drivers on the DELL support downloads site solves this problem.  Install the soundcard drivers and then reinstall the printer drivers (or what I did was uncheck dljc.cats from the startup menu using msconfig).  The soundcard will no longer trick the printer into thinking there is a 64 bit environment and "cats" won't reload. Thus the error message goes away.

This has help several others and I hope it helps you as well.

*SORRY NUKKER - DIDN'T MEAN FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.

*PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY TO THE REPLY, BELOW, AND NOTICE I WAS REFERING TO A "FOLDER" "DL_cats" ( DO A SEARCH PLEASE OR LOCATE WITHIN YOUR C:\ DRIVE, ETC. )THAT YOU MUST DISABLE SO IT WILL NOT KEEP RENEWING THE ENTRY IN THE REGISTRY THAT GIVES YOU THE "RUNDLL ERROR" ? YOU MUST ALSO MAKE SURE THE ENTRY IN THE REGISTRY HAS BEEN DELETED. IF THIS IS STILL NOT CLEAR ENOUGH - REPLY AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO INFORM...

sorry dude I work 12-14 hours per day and only time this comp is on is in the morning to look at e-mail.

Your fix is not new and what you say is a fix has been done already. The only way to get my comp. to even work is was to uninstal the printer drivers. The creative sound card put a wow64/32node in the reg. and when the printer is instaled it thinks the system is a 64 bit not 32. and it tries to instal the 64bit driver. The only way to fix it is to uninstal printer deleet node and reinstal printer. And with all the freakin problems the printer caused I am not to keen on reinstaling it at all. Dells tech support needs to come out of the stone age and actualy help people not just give them the run arround. I will never buy another Dell and I tell every one I know the story. I will go back to building my own because when I payed for in home service I did not think I had to be the first tech to trouble shoot the problem. When I build a comp it is with top of the line components. With Dell they sell you the top of the line with old second rate components. That is all I will rant for now.
