Wireless printing with AIO 962

Hi,

I'd like to know if there's any way I can initiate a scan from my PC on the 962 printer? The printer is connected to my laptop via the Dell 3300 wireless print server.

I can initiate the scan from the printer, but I cannot seem to start the scan from the laptop.

I would ultimately like to scan documents using something other than the Dell software. Is that possible?

thanks,
John

Unfortunately, in this scenario, you will not be able to initiate a scan from the PC.  Once the 962 printer is up and running with the 3300 wireless adapter, the only network scanning option is to send from the scanner/printer TO the PC.  You would need to interface locally with the printer scanner (USB) to achieve the results you're looking for.  Hope this helps!

Great!  Thank you for the reply.  I guess I will just have to live with it then.

I really wanted to use third party scanner software to do the scans, but I guess I am stuck with the Dell software.

Really a moot point because I can't seem to keep the printer installed.  Once I have everything working with the printer and the wireless print server, as soon as I reboot my computer, the printer gets greyed out and the software tells me that the printer is not connected.  This one is going back until they refine the software.  Disappointed though because the press release for the 3300 said that I could retain full functionality over the wireless.  That's the only reason I bought this thing!  Here's a quote: " eliminating the need for these printers to sit next to a computer system, and freeing up desk space without compromising performance or functionality. "

None of my other scanning software seems to recognize that the 962 is available over the network.  What a boondoggle!  I spent over 5 hours on this issue yesterday.

    thanks again,
    John

I can't even get the printer to be recognized on the network with the wireless connection.  Is it a software or hardware issue?  In either case, I bought the AIO 962 for the same reason.  Have you had any luck finding anyone to talk with about how to return the product?

hi, i have an AIO 962 on a Dell 4032 Print server and dell wireless 3300 adapter.(The wireless scheme is based on an AP and  a DSL modem router.) I can print from either of the 2 laptops that share the printer, from any room in the house that has wireless coverage. The Scanner facility only seems to work when the laptop is in the same room as the Scanner -like about 2 to 3 feet away from the Scanner. Also, haveing scanned a document - 1 page , and sent it to the laptop, the whole lot has to be rebooted to enable a second document to be scanned and sent to the relevant laptop.

any suggestions to fix /investigate this or am I doomed to live with it???

My solution was to return the wireless 3300.

Also, trying to install the printer directly via USB to my Latitude D400 was a nightmare - I eventually had to re-image my machine. There is some conflict with the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG driver software and it causes me to repeatedly lose my wireless network connection.

I booted up an old Compaq laptop and had to install the printer on that machine. The drivers installed, but the extra AIO center software would not. At least the printer works, but it's so irritating that I cannot print directly from my main machine, and that the software is so buggy and impossible to install.

I would've returned the printer too, but I had already thrown the box away because it was so big. Now, I'm stuck with it. I can only pray that they release some software that works, or that it dies. I'm still very unhappy and dissatisfied with the whole situation.

    disgruntledly,
    John
