when I get an e-mail with an attachment I can't open it . As I get lesson plans I need to open and print. What do I have to do ?

What type of attachment gets downloaded?
Do you have the proper software to open the attachment? Typically, Microsoft Word if it is a doc or docx; Microsoft Excel if it is an .xls or .xlsx file. Or, if the file is a pdf, Adobe Reader?
