I just inherited a rack with this KVM and no one knows the password. Every time we need to use the KVM we have to hit the reset button. That gets us into the menus, but we cannot change the password since it prompts us for the previous password.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
TIA.
cheers,
Steve

I ask because I have since found out that this switch is a Dell rebranded Avocent Outlook 180ES...and the Avocent web site states:
Issue:
Lost Outlook passwords can not be reset in the field.
Solution:
There are no in-field fixes for a lost password on Outlook products.
You must return the switch for a factory reset.
This applies to:
Outlook EL-40DT
Outlook EL-80DT
Outlook EL-280DT
Outlook EL-480DT
Outlook 180DX
Outlook 140ES
Outlook 180ES *****
Outlook 280ES
Outlook 1160ES
Outlook 2160ES
Outlook 4160ES

Dell's track record is that they don't tend to post this info on their message boards to prevent abuse.
This is why calling them is probably the better choice to get an answer, especially if the original manufacturer says that for the non-OEM products require sending them back to the manufacturer to have the password reset.
