Java 1.6.0_03 with -Xmx256m error
After configuring the -Xmx256m Java Runtime Parameter that is required for the IT Assistant console, I get an error. First "The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded" appears when the website is first accessed. In my Cisco web apps, I get the "Several Java Virtual Machines running in the same process caused an error". I believe they are both being caused by the same runtime command. After removing the command, my Cisco apps work, and also IT Assistant works, except for the Software Updates page, which requires the -Xmx256m parameter. Sun apparently is hearing many similar complaints. There is a page at java.com that references the error, there is no real fix. I tried the workaround, but it isn't working. Is there another workaround available? Can Dell please stop using Java apps? Every vendor uses Java differently, and I get problems like this all the time.

What is the OS/service pack you are using?
Please take a look at this post. It mentions a list of Microsoft hotfixes suspected to interfere with Java settings.

Alternately, you could try to access the IT Assistant web interface from a different system.
Or, you may want to try using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer from the same system.
To check whether Java is correctly working you need not necessarily invoke ITA. Just open the browser, click "Tools" menu->"Sun Java Console". Either the Java console should pop up, or you will see the error message. Also, ensure that you have configured the -Xmx parameter correctly (correct capitalization of the letters, no extra spaces etc).
