Had or Have Vundo Virus and need help

I realized I had a virus or some kind of malware when i was getting popups and virus warning popups.  My Macafee has told me it has removed the vundo virus a couple of times but it comes right back. So this what i have done since then...
 
cleaned all internet and temp files iluding cookies
run ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, and stinger
then i ran vundofix, it couldn't initially delete two files so it restarted and tried again
then i ran hijackthis and got a log
 
If some who understands this could look at it to tell me what if any things i still need to do it would be appriciated

Here's the latest logs, also the second file you wanted sent i couldn't find but the first was sent.
 
Also on restart the past two tine i get a warning that is titled

Put Your Name, and Dell HJT forum

and In the file to submit box, click Browse.Using Windows Explorer
  • (Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents)
Locate the file
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\j4251731.dll

In the comments tell them that I asked you to upload the file
Then Select Send File.

Then Repaet the proceedure for this file as well
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\xsrvvmfq.dll

2. We are going to run Vundofix again, but alter the instructions slightly

Run VundoFix again
  • At the Main window Rt Click in the Open Box and Select Add Files
    A second window will open
    Copy and paste the following into the first 2 lines

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\xsrvvmfq.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\qfmvvrsx.*
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\j4251731.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\1371524j.*

    Select Add Files ->> Repeat untill they are all loaded Then Close Window
  • Click the Remove Vundo button. Do not click the Scan for Vundo
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

1. Please download the Killbox.
  • 1)Save it to the desktop
    2) Rt Click->>Extract all->.Extract it to your Desktop
    3) Double Click Killbox.exe to run it
    4)Select " Delete on Reboot", and then select "All files".
    5) Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\j4251731.dll

    6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose " Paste from Clipboard".
    7) Click the red-and-white " Delete File" button.  Click " Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt.  Click " No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

2. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1B1D551E-FAE1-442C-8AA6-4369EB8D59E5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\byxxusq.dll (file missing)

So far so good.  I haven't had any popups or any viruses found by macafee.
 
Thank you for all your help I really appriciate it.
 
Also since you obviously seem knowledgeable, is there any way i can scan a program i download from the internet before i run it to make sure it doesn't contain a virus, spyware, or malware?

Yes there is a way to do that. First Rt Click a blank space on your Desktop ->>New ->>Folder
Then name the folder anything you wish like Downlaods or what ever.
When you download something Save it to that folder, Never select Run from the internet.
Then open the folder ->> locate the item you just downloaded. Rt Click ->>You should have an option in the little nemu to scan with your AV. In you r case it would be McAfee. Once its clean then install the program. If it's not clean, delete it.


You may now remove/delete/uninstall the tools we used to clean your PC

Now that your log is clean

There are some final notes:
Disable and Enable System Restore
  • Lets create a clean System Restore point
    the instructions are here


Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of
    Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.u1.
    Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
    Click the " Download" button to the right.
    Check the box that says: " Accept License Agreement".
    The page will refresh.
    Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
    Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
    Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
    Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
    Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
    Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u1-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Update your Anti Virus Software

Use and maintain a Firewall

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently for critical updates

Backup your Important Documents and Files on a regular basis
  • To a disc or a USB key, not your Hardrive
