I cannot get the computer online to update it. I successfully found and got rid of 4 other things, including antivirus 2009 but not the pesky system security thing. also i tried running the RogueRemoverFree but everytime it says there is something wrong and it won't run. i will keep trying, thanks for the info

if you have any other computer then download this.

www.superantispyware.com and then burn it in a cd or dvd and then run it.

Try the professional version of the software and its free. Try running a complete scan and it will take a few hrs but it will remove all the spywares for sure.

* If you are unable to download or install MBAM on your computer, see if you can use a friend's or family member's computer to download MBAM. Use this update link here to manually download the update. Once downloaded, rename the program installer "mbam-setup.exe" file to something else like "catchjunk.exe". Copy the installer file and the update file to a CD or flash drive. Transfer the file to the infected computer. Install the "catchjunk.exe" file, then run the update so that you will have the current definitions. After that, run a full system scan and select to have the program REMOVE whatever it finds.

I already have mbam installed on the computer that is infected. like i said, i ran it and it did find 4 things, just not the system security roque. i have just downloaded the update to a cd.  if i take the cd to the infected computer, do i just double click on the update i downloaded for it to update?  sorry if i sound stupid   :emotion-1:

Yes, try that. There should be a rules.ref and an installer that will run.

Hmmm it never did find and remove the system security.  Strange. i just disabled it from startup, hopefully that will help.

That does not remove the malware.  It is too difficult to get into a long fix while Dell is working on fixing their forum software. I suggest that you post a DDS log at SpywareHammer. It's the holidays, so it may take a few days until you can get help.

Use a CD or USB stick/flash drive to  download DDS on a clean computer. Transfer it to the infected one. DDs will not fix anything, but it will show us what is happening on the machine.

• Use a clean computer and your CD or a flashdrive to download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links.  Transfer/Save it to your desktop on the infected computer.
  • DDS.com
  • DDS.scr
  • DDS.pif
• Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
• A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool.
• Click Yes at the prompt for Optional Scan.
• When done, DDS will open two (2) logs

• 1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt

• Save both reports to your desktop.
• Copy/paste both logs to your new topic on the forum HERE. Include in your title, "System Security Removal", and in your post give a description of your symptoms.
  
• Close the DDS program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
