VCE VxRail 3.5 Network Guide and vlan id pairs

Question

Mentioned in the network guide is a passage on page 9 that says 'Enter a Name and VLAN ID pair for each VM network you want to create.'.  I'm trying to understand why I would need to create a Private Vlan and why I would need a VLAN ID pair when configuring a single appliance.  Any Ideas?

So you are saying that IF I don't have any external switch, such as the VDX-6740, that is when I would use a private VLAN to separate the traffic.  Is that correct?  That seems to indicate it would be cabled to itself, at least for VMotion, VSan, etc.

VxRail uses the vSphere Distributed Switch. There is no physical switch in the appliance to facilitate communication between the nodes.
