I have an old Dell CPT Lattitude, that I would like to change the OS from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. I am not having any luck install XP. I get the error message that an OS is already instaalled and I should use a dual boot system, which I do not want to do. I want to ger rid of 2000 and install XP. I need to know what to do to accomplish this goal thanks for your help.
Hi, lriecks1, There are two support journals that will help you to install XP on your system HERE, and HERE for your drivers, and in their correct order. I used CPT V as an reference, i hope its ok for you.
When you want to perform a 'clean' install, you need to boot from the OS disc (in this case the XP disc), (quick-) format the hard drive, then install the new OS :emotion-55:
If you've never done it before yourself, there are any number of articles/guides you can refer to.
