Easy Windows Transfer

Question

I put in a new hard drive and want to transfer all my files to it from my old hard drive but I do not have a 2nd computer to do this.  Is there a way to accomplish this by hooking up the old driver in the same system as the new drive and running the transfer program?

According to this article, this can be done from computer to computer, via a network or via an external usb drive or cd's or dvd's. I would assume then that this can be done from a second hard drive.

Sorry.  My system is XPS600; 2 G Ram; 3.0 CPU, Windows Home Premium.

Easy as pie.   Install the original hard drive and boot it up.   Start the easy transfer wizard and let it copy the XXXX File.MIG to an external hard disk USB stick or what ever. Noting that this file could be large depending on how much data you are transferring. I did one topday and the file was 1.87 GB.   Install the new hard drive and boot it up. Then start the easy transfer wizard and point it to the USB drive XXX File.MIG that was created earlier. Let it finish.   pcgeek11

Thanks!  I do have an external backup hard drive attached via USB.  Can I use that?
