I have suddenly develop a runtime error with IE6 when I start it. The message is an "unterminated string constant" When I went through to the debug screen it highlighted the line that says
Does the error appear as soon as you launch Internet Explorer? If so, it may be related to your home page (which you cannot change). The problem may be either a virus or spyware. You can do a full system scan with your antivirus program to rule out the first possibility.
For spyware download Ad-aware from
here and Spybot from
here. Check online for updates to their databases then run them and delete all the spyware they identify.
If that does not rectify the problem download HijackThis from
here. Run it and post the log it generates at
http://forums.tomcoyote.org/ where the experts can analyze it and provide corrective measures.
If you are running Windows XP, you cannot uninstall IE from Add/Remove Programs. You can, however, reinstall it using the procedure
here which may solve the problem in the short run, but not if whatever caused it in the first place is still on your hard disk.
