Necessary Programs On My computer
I have a problem with programs necessary to the enhancment and proper management of my computer. I only use my computer to listen to music, watch videos, pay bills and to obtain answers to questions I might have in general. I don not play online games on my computer. In other words I am only a normal consumer with a computer with very little knowledge of computer technology. My question is if the following programs necessary for the proper operation of my computer or are these programs dead weight just sitting on my computer not serving any purpose. The programs are silverlight, microsoft.net framwork, MSXLM 6.0 parser, offcodecs 0.71.0946, direct X, and Java enviroment. Would like some ideas.

They are ALL serving a purpose. I won't go into details on each one, but if you remove any of them, you'll find that some of the applications that you use day-to-day will not operate correctly. Silverlight is not absolutely necessary, but there are some Microsoft sites that won't operate correctly without Silverlight.
Bottom line - if you don't know what it is or what it does - DON'T remove it.
