Hello, I need to run a program that uses the microsoft .net framework...
the program works on all systems but not a Dell...
I researched in the forums and it appears to be a widespread Dell problem. Please help, thank you

I don't have any problems with .NET framework 1.1 or 2.0 on my Dimension 8300 so I don't think you can assume that it's the fact that it is a Dell PC that is causing your problems, rather something with system or other software on that PC.Do you have the .NET framework 1.1 Service pack 1? If not, download fromAlso a security fix for .NET Framwork 1.1 SP1, which Windows update should offer..Maybe this might help with .NET framework troubleshooting:although its title mentions installation issues, it also has a repair section (some of which may be XP pro specific (rather than XP home), not sure).- I already have .net framework 1.1 and it doesn't work. That is why I am posting this message. I tried .net framework 2.0 as well.
Any ideas? I've read many posts from Dell users saying they have problems with .net framework. Also, the program works on other systems. Please help, thank you - Thanks for the ideas but unfortunately still no luck.
This is the reason I thought it might be a Dell issue. I originally had the same error that is described in the forum but I was able to solve the debug issue and thats how I have the error report.

The program is custom made but the programmer claims it has to be a problem with my system because the program works on all other systems.

I think that must be Visual Studio .NET, though I'm not sure. You can google for that, or ask on the forum where you got the suggestion. I don't have that and know nothing about it, as I'm not a software developer. Perhaps the person who wrote the app can also advise what it needs.PS from your debug report, I note it refers to symbols files that could not be found. You could google for 'symbols files for .NET Framework 1.1. This brings up quite a few posts, one or other may be helpful (other than doing the search, I haven't read any).
