My prob. is this:

I configure OE6 according to my ISP’s info.

I try send/rec; all works fine.

I log off as user.When I re-logon as user and try to use OE6, I get error mssg 0x800ccc0f.

I check OE6 configuration and it has changed the incoming mail server to 127.0.0.1 from my original config. info as supplied by ISP.

No matter how often I reconfig. OE6 correctly, after every log-off or re-boot, it changes the config. for the incoming mail server to 127.0.0.1.

My ISP help desk tells me I possibly have a virus/Trojan/malware…

My OS is Windows XP Pro SP2.

My AV is McAfee PC security suite.

I have MS AntiSpyware. I have AdAware. I have SpyBot S&D.

All have latest updates, including Microsoft/Windows updates.

Running scans with all the above does not detect any problems…

Do I have any other options besides re-formatting?

I tried re-installing IE as per Doug Knox’s instructions at www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_ie_reinstall.htm

without success, even when using Doug’s VB Script for the command line.

I've "googled" 127.0.0.1 and got many hits but still can't figure out what it is all about; not too PC literate, I'm afraid...

Would appreciate some advice on this matter.Thank you.
