Open Windows Limit

Can someone please help?

I get an error message too frequently lately that says "You have reached the open windows limit-please close some windows, or something to that effect".

I don't remember if it is only when I am on the internet or just on my PC, but causes me the need to re-boot too many times.

    Fred Lyons,

    Are you using AOL?

    Denny,

Yep, I use AOL 9.0 Optimized. I only get the problem when I log onto AOL. I think.

I did get info from them, but it basically says to eliminate all items but Explorer & Systray. ??? When you do a CNTRL ALT & then DELTE & end task on all but those two. That doesn't make any sense.

I've got Zone Alarm, Hot Sync for Palm and a couple more, buy I don't think anuyhing excessive.

    Fred Lyons,

The problem is with AOL. It is discussed (and a temporary workaround is presented) here. A permanent solution is to remove the offending application.

    Denny,

Thanks. I did the CNTL ALT & DELETE & it has helped. AOL said to do this, but it is still strange to me with the bug. I will try the lowering of the "Personal Storgae Space" on AOL next to see if that helps.
