It involves editing your registry, and you should NOT attempt that until you understand a great deal more about your computer.
Until then, leave the items there; they will remove themselves, one at a time [first in, first out], once the list grows to its maximum number. I believe that the maximum is somewhere around 10; however I could be totally wrong about that.

This is the registry key that has all the RUN commands. You can delete them from here. Using Start> Run> type in Regedit, navigate to this key and DELETE the items you want NOT to be listed.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU
After a reboot the DELETED items will be gone.

Denny,
As a test (second time), I deleted two items from the MRU list and rebooted. After the reboot everything left listed in the Start> Run menu (minus the two deleted entries) worked as intended. Added the two deleted items and they opened OK too.
